SNAIL INVASION. HELP!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i haven't seen a snail in my tank since i got my pacu almost a year ago. i don't think there's much he can't crush, he's up to 14" now.

I read online somewhere (tho i can't remember) that parrot fish like to eat snails... depending on the size of the snails or fish..

I love Mts. I got some free from a lfs and after putting them in my tank I have only seen them on a rare ocasion. They keep the algae down and they do not bother my plants.

i want some

if you need to get rid of them try some kind of heavy metal or anouther snail killer some metals won't kill fish or hurt plants but will kill any shrimps or snails

I had 2 tanks that got overrun with snails due to some new plants, of course - it's like catching VD from the LFS. At first I panicked because they looked like crap. Then I calmed down and realized that they were cleaning my tank and especially my substrate quite well!!! So I let 'em go for a little while...

Then I got annoyed and wanted to rid them.

In one tank I added a couple corys that I guess ate the eggs and 1 single clown loach that ate the little ones and I picked out the big ones manually. After 10 days - 2 weeks.... gone! And I haven't seen them since...

In the other smaller tank, I wanted to have some fun! So I dropped a box of salt in the tank and it took about a day and a half. Changed the water twice (to make sure) and now it is clean as a whistle and operating as a wonderful quarrantine tank! And still have 2 ghosties that survived the ordeal - tough little bass turds!
