snail with red devil?

will it work?
trying to get some help with keeping my tank clean. a pleco would be dead about 30 seconds after it goes in. my question is will my insanely aggresive red devil try to kill it,eat it, etc.
what happens if he eats it?

I mean I already now that he is going to try to pick them apart but would he try to eat the shell? howsafe would that be?
 
The MTS will be fine. Ramshorns on the other hand and anything else won't.
 
just googled the mts and I think I might give them a try. hopefully I can find some of the bigger size ones. thanks alot
 
Oh I didn't know mts can go with cichlids. So I can put some mts from my planted tank in my non planted cichlid tank? :D
 
MTS are good for keeping the substraet airated. I have some in my Jag tank and he never really pays any attention to them other than the occasional peck and spit. I put some in my Discus tanks but the Dwarf Loaches ate them up. As for apple, mistery and ramshorn they might do a better job on alge but may get killed. Imo best thing to do is the above mentioned magnet or scrapper.
 
what about a big apple snail. i have some with my devils and they dont even get noticed, i use them in all my tanks. mine are about tennis ball size though, they cant eat it whole so they ignore them. great for finding food that gets stuck in the no flow areas of my tank. but overall they will just make the tank dirtier. they poop alot. do nothing for the glass/algae. usually sell for 6 bucks in a store at this size.
