Snails and mbunas

snails wont work. my africans love to eat any snail that makes it way into the tank. also, you dont need to clean out all of the green algae-some mbuna africans eat algae! all i do is wipe the front and side glass, sift the sand to let any trapped gases escape, and leave the rockwork-you will see your africans pick algae off the rocks too..
i have a common pleco in my 180, and he is just fine. keep in mind that commons really dont clean algae well once they get bigger. i just rely on the good ol plastic scraper lol..

thanks for the awesome advice!:D

Also look at the setup why is there so much algae growing? Is in sunlight shining? Are the lights on too much? Is your nitrates too high? Looking at this can lower the amount of algae.

I know why there's algea. I was keeping the light onn as much as possible during the cycling so I could get algea on the rocks for the mbunas

Snails = Food for AC's

Plecos will be your best bet.

well now you know how to slow it down! lol

lol! yeah I put timers on the lights so they will go off at night that should reduce the algea a bit:D

Old bulbs will also result in more algae growth....
