I have a Thai silk flower horn in a tank with a couple plants. I have had a small snail population ever since I've had the tank, but now that my flowerhorn is in the tank (2weeks) my loachs are scared to come out of the drift wood, and they are not eating the snails. So now I have had a population boom!! Hundreds of them!
I honestly think nothing will work but a chemical...:/
Does anyone have experience in this or a chemical that works? I dont want to use a chemical but I have no choice. Nothing else will work.
Thanks so much

Have you tried manual removal? If you put a piece of lettuce in the tank overnight, they should feed on it...just remove the lettuce and snails in the morning. Doing this over the course of a few days should put a big dent in the population. Or you could buy a few assassin snails.

What kind of loaches are in there? I would pick up a small group of yoyos there quite a bit more brave then clowns and eat snails very fast. Other wise I'd remove the fish and do a snail treatment.

You could also try a dwarf puffer would still need to remove fh.

Or there is manual removal although not super effective you cold place a plate with a piece of cucumber leave it over night and when you wake up there should be a ton of snails you can remove, will defiantly keep the population down a little.

I have 2 yoyo loaches. It is a 55 gallon tank.
And I have nowhere to put the fh I have another 20 galling bow front community tank.
I will try the lettuce thing. But won't it float? And what are assassin snails?!?

they make a lettuce clip that suction cups onto the glass...just place it low in the aquarium. assassin snails are snails that eat other snails.

U might even b able to get away with a cupple pea puffers they are really smart and if u said u have plants they would hide well from the fh or like they said above assin snails they eat the pest snails u would prob need two or three

Thank you I'll get a couple assassins as well as the lettuce trick. Do snails eat drift wood? Because that is where these are all near. They don't wander the sand just the wood

loaches afraid of snails??? LOL

1. take em out and eat it
2. put staple a piece of lettuce on a plastic sheet or sort
and put it in the tank over night and theyll all get on it to
eat and just take em all out while theyre feasting.
3. get some real loaches that do their job! lol...
