Do snails need to be quarantined? I know they can introduce algae, but can they carry parasites?

I'll be stopping at a pet shop today and I'm hoping they have some. I just need to know if they'll be a threat to the 3wk old fry I was thinking of placing them with.

Never really thought about it, but realistically anything can carry parasites or diseases. That said, I know I've never had any issues with snails - and I gather up all the "nuisance" snails from PetSmart whenever I go in, and I gladly pick up nice cheap mystery snails from Wal-Mart and have never had an issue (knock on wood, lol)

As they're just fry, and still quite sensitive, I'd hold off for a couple months (jmho) :)

That is a good suggestion. Just adding them to my pond would have been my back up till I was sure they were fine. But the pet shop wanted wat too much for their snails and most were already dead:/ So I came home empty handed.
