Snails!

I have several tanks running and one maintains a rabid snail infestation. I love it. Whenever I find them close to the surface I grab them and throw them in my other tanks so my loaches and cichlids will eat them. Even my aro ate one the other day. Flew across the tank and snatched it up before I could react. He crushed the shell and spit out the bits. So, IMO you are likely over-reacting. Take this blessing as an excuse to go get a nice clown loach. You'll have no more snails. Definitely would not break down a tank over this but, it's your time/money/effort etc. GL

I WANT snails! I keep tossing snails in my tanks from my brother's tanks but my fish keep eating them :-( I finally set up a 20 g Long yesterday and I'm going to get some black mystery snails to put in there. Maybe with no fish in there they'll be safe :-)

thanks for the replies people...to completely break up the tank was a bit of an overreaction.. when i first saw the snails in the filter i freaked..i've never had snails before...but i have had white spot and having to treat your tank is heartbreaking..but as you say they aren't that bad in the long run..it's a great excuse to buy a clown loach!

Snails are good. Trumpet ones keep your substrate turned over and fresh. And they are good food for your fish. What better food than live? Lol... I breed my trumpets and mystery snails on purpose. My Cichlids, Synos and loaches- even Ghost knife fish love them.
