As no ones mentioned it....

Only get a loach if you want a loach. I have had a few species of loaches- mainly clowns and yoyos, and not everyone does a good/any job at eating snails. Yes i'm afraid it comes down to the individual, probably a 50:50 chance maybe less and as wyldfya said, would also depend on snail species. I currently have 2 clowns and 2 yoyos that are doing a pretty piss-poor job of eating snails in my snail ridden tanks if you ask me. Unless you are happy manually removing just leave them, unless you have a planted tank, most species won't do any damage.

my tiger loach keeps my 125g completely snail free.Ive even dumped mts and ramshorn snails in there and he gets them all

i really dont know yet. they are really small. if they are trumpets what is my solution? what about puffers?

Puffers are no good for MTS, the shells are too hard and can damage the puffers teeth. MTS are not going to harm your tank in any way, even if it is planted, and are good at keeping your substrate moving, and your solid organic wastes down. I have them in almost all my tanks because of how good they are.

i pulled some out last night and they appear to be pond snails. the store i got the plants from has apple snails in the same tank? i read somewhere that striped rapheal cats eat snails? if so mine sucks
