Snake caught eating cocky!! PICS

Ditto. That was an expensive meal... and for that reason "last breath" or not I think I would've tried to save my bird. Still surprised that the cockatoo didn't do more damage. You'd think if it had tried to fight back (if possible- couldn't tell where the snake struck) it could've bit the snake in half.

It wasn't her bird. It's probably in Australia and they are wild there.

Yeh this happened in australia and cockatoos are wild here, you can find them everywhere!

Why is it incredible for a snake to grab a bird? There are snakes out there that eat bats in mid flight, I don't see a bird to be too difficult.
I don't think it's impressive that it caught the cockatoo or swallowed it, but that it killed it. I'm assuming you've never handled an angry cockatoo. They are pretty strong and have a very impressive bite. I was restraining a Lesser Sulfur Crested over the summer as he was having his wings clipped. He bit me, so I just let him go completely to calm down. Had I not done that, I no doubt would have had a broken finger and I have a little bit of permanent nerve damage in that finger...and the bird the snake ate is even a little bigger than the one I was handling. With a well placed bite, I have little doubt the cockatoo has the capability to kill the snake. People are afraid to feed live cause their snake might get bitten by a rat...I'd MUCH rather have a rat bite me than another cockatoo...

i wish a snake would come and eat the 2 hundred odd that come and sit i in the tree out side my window and sqawk at 6am every day grrr

it was at night so the bird would of been asleep the snake would of squeezed it so hard it wouldnt of taken much time for it to die

thus being so little squawks ...

ive seen it happen twice
