No, garter snakes give birth to live young. Trust me, when I was a kid I caught a pregnant common garter and she gave birth in my 10 gallon aquarium. Well lets just say the wire top had holes just big enough for all 20 some babies to escape in my house. We kept finding snakes throughout the house for a week. After that experience my mom wouldn't let me bring any snakes in the house! I wonder why....?
