In Rhode island if you had one you could keep it but with a permit threw Fish and wildlife and if you didnt want it anymore you had to kill it and bring it to them to show that it was dead or you would be fined. Lfs around me were told to destroy them... what a sad day.
yes you are correct md amended its law to allow you to keep them, this is the only state that does allow this and then it does not cover the big 5 as they call them , micro , marulia , maruliodes , argus . straita
also fedral law means you cannot transport accross state lines . or import them into the country never mind the state , so unfortunatly when they are gone they are gone , i dont think there would be enough in the state to get any sort of breeding program going sadly
quite funny how only md of all states could see that the vast majority of the species had no real threat to the local enviroment.
