definitely some sort of nerodia, not sure exactly though, where was it found?

near greencastle PA

any info on these? anybody keep them? It looked awesome!

It is an N. sipedon sipedon. I've kept a few watersnakes. Their care is really no different from a king, milk, or corn, though a large water dish is a plus. UV is not necessary. They are very combative when caught but usually calm down quickly, especially if you don't let them spook you. They are naturally fish-and-frog eaters but can (and should) be trained to take mice.

I've found that wild-caught Nerodia are infection-prone; I suggest you get CB if at all possible.

I would agree with that...or alternately, treat them like a large garter snake. Agreed with getting them on rodents if you can, easier for you and the rodent diet is a lot less smelly both going in and out.

And they are aggressive when freshly caught.

I saw a water mocosin where we go swimming always! A guy shooed it away when it was on shore hes whacko

Those SOB's are mean as hell. I've been bit many a time catching them. Really nice pics and I don't think I've ever seen one that orange before.

Yeah that was my thought too. The ones in CT were generally plain black or faintly banded, and clearly banded when small.

The whole watersnake catching experience is a nightmare...from the biting, to the musk, to them regurgitating their last meal.
