How long do you leave the light on?

You would be better w/ a black light or infra-red light on 24/7. I still need to know what the temperatures are, what size tank and what wattage is the bulb.

Kingsnakes are semi-fossorial snakes. That is, they spend a large part of their lives underground. More so when shedding, of course. Pull him out and see if his eyes have clouded over. If so, bring a little rain for the next few nights. Don't soak the enclosure, obviously, but make the humidity rise and let it drink some of the mist.

Good :) keep him hydrated. You don't want to be pulling stuck shed off a kingsnake. I have two of them, and let me tell you... you will get bitten. :p

its eyes are blue as can be. def shedding

put him in a plastic shoe box with holes in it for air and about 3" of warm water, 85F for 24 hours

Californias, absolutely, but Deserts and Brooks are some of the most gentle, docile snakes I have ever owned, except when it comes to feeding. Calis are insane - too much inbreeding/linebreeding
