Snake Rack: What size tubs for adult BP's, Corn, and King?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am not saying the snake would be any less healthy in racks, I just dont see the need for them for 2 or 3 snakes. Wouldn't you rather be able to look at your snakes and enjoy them? Also rack systems are very expensive and you are a fool if you think they save any money.

If you use racks it is fine but in my experience, they take the enjoyment out of keeping snakes.

For me, the joy of keeping snakes is the handling and feeding time. If I wanted a display animal, I would get some blue day geckos.

Commercial rack systems wired with heat etc are expensive, which is why I am going DIY.

both sides have valid points , i have 9 snakes,a pair of knobtail geckos, a colony of leo geckos ,a few roach colonies and use a diy rack i got used for 200$ ,its has 8 rows of 8ft with heat tape and enough for 50+ tubs of varying size . it all depends on how many animals and your space available.

The better choice (Display or Rack) depends on the keeper as well as the animal.

Personally, I have my Ball Python Breeding Project in a rack type set up, yet I have a 75 Gal Ball Python grow out display tank. My Rubber Boas are also in a display set up, though will be moved into tubs if/shen the day comes to breed them. The Arg Tegu sorta owns the place...

Many species of snakes can be kept quite well in a rack set up, but I believe the point was, why keep them if they are just stacked in a rack system you cannot see? There are reasons why one would do this, but I agree it's a question worth asking.

Toby, what size tubs do you keep your adult BP's in?

I ended up getting 60qt sterilite #1761 tubs. They are 31.5" x 16" x 6".
