Not to rain on anyones parade but, that is not a carpet python. That is the largest species of python in Austrailia. The Amethestine python. They grow to damn near 30'. Long slender snake like a carpet but way way bigger!

but you are right, that is indeed an Morelia amethistina, Scrub python.. still a brother to the "true" carpet. but then again, the name "carpet python' is a common name and therefore applys to anything, especially snakes of the same genus.
