Snakehead (Channa)

Thanks.
They really do color up well, and you could keep a pair in your tank quite well.

P.S. I always use Kettapang, makes their colors pop.

large and aggressive , it should be big red (channa micropeltes) but a 100 gal might not be suitable

He is asking for suitable fish for a 100gallon.
Even you said 100 gallons is too small yourself, so why suggest it?

well he mention large and aggressive , first thing on my mind was big red , my friend ever kept a 2 footer in a 250 gal , still he bang against the sides of the tank ,everytime loud thuds sound can be heard ,maybe mid sized channas like golden cobra or pleuros will be suitable

I have been looking at the following channas:
Channa aurantimaculata
Channa asiatica
Channa stewartii

And i shall visit my local pet store tomorrow to se what kind he can get to me. And if he can´t get a snakehead for me its leaning on a black rhom or a elungatus och maybe a wolffish

titta så mysigt.. fler svenskar..

but I'll stick to the kings' in order to keep the crowd happy.. my advice is to get a 540 and get a couple of pleuros, colorful, possible to mix with other predatory fish.. I'd hook you up with an aurantimaculata if you were any closer but keep in mind most dwarf spiecies and unfortunately also auranti are pretty much subtropical and won't thrive with tropical fish.. and in my humble opinion they just don't have the monster attributes.. you could go parachanna for a 100, they stay pretty much inactive but they have a pretty serious monster factor..

if you can't find a snakehead that you like I'd rather have a wolf than pirahna.. they just don't deliver their reputation.. for snakehead info you are in good hands on the swedish mfk (not as good as here, but still pretty functional.. we have some knowledgable guys) however, IF you decide to go monster I recommend you to stay on here, orka "bra för att vara svenskt".. on the swedish forums with very few exceptions there are more people speculating than actually knowing.. most of "us" have never kept the fish we are discussing and the opinions are more than often based on what someone on here have said..

välkommen, jag heter samma sak på mfkswe btw..

Thanks for the replays.

I know that a micro is not a option for my tank and i haved ask my local pet store what kind a fish they can take home. I don´t like wolffish becuase they stand still after they have eaten. So i am wondering about getting a Elonaguts becase they are the most agressive pirhana that i know about to bad tho they grow so slow. But if the have a Channa aruanti ill think it will be that one :headbang2

I think my local pet store will call me today after getting the list from germany.

Will update you when i know what fish it´s going to be.
