How aggressive are the emperors they seem to be pretty docile and shy compared to a lot of other channa

I bought myself a maru a week ago but it jumped out the next day :/.I spoke with several experienced hobbyists who've kept maruloides for years.When asked about max size most of them told me it's very rare for them to grow to their max potential when raised from fingerlings.Even if they do grow over 24" it'll take years.Brucki told me lucius can get to 50cm/(20" I believe?),but they're shy.

Looking for new ideas

I am a long term Cichlid keeper looking for a change. I was considering a Channa or parachanna. Currently i have 6x2x2 and 4x2x2 tanks. What spec's would you recommend for each aquarium? Channa pleurophthalma and Channa aurantimaculata both looking interesting

Yes you could house a solo channa marulioides in the 6x2x2 , they are about as big a species as you could get in that sized tank.

That’s cool I think I will get a solo emperor then if things don’t change. I would try to make it as personable as possible with mirrors and stuff like people do with flowerhorns. When reading a thread it said channa don’t like big water changes they like aged water so don’t do frequent water changes. What does that mean?
