Hi,

yes its pulchra

Cheers Brucki

Thank you Stan, pro, Brucki and gigas for your replies!
I was hoping to get this guy in one of my tropical tanks but now I did a little research on the forum and it seems that its desired temp is 18-25C , so there is no way to keep it in a 26-27C tank, is that right?

I think they are keeping him in a tropical 28-30C tank in the store! I will inform them of what this fish needs.

hi mate , just about all stores keep all channa at tropical temps , a lot of shops are on full systems so hard not too , others just do not know any better.

i would advise against keeping it in full tropical temps all year round , the best you could acheive is to set the tank to 25deg and most tropicals would be fine with that also. but really they are best kept in a species tank , and in a community esp. tropical you would most likley find that it would just hide away most of the time , and could go off its food.

you can actually tell in the pic that the fish is not at optimum conditions as it is stressed and all colours and markings are poor.
i think you have done great researching what you are going to buy and you should go with the info you have found , it will save you time and money in the long run

cheers col

hi, thanks for your reply col.

they had to put him in a tank with a flowerhorn in the store and as you can guess he was torn up by the FH. now he is with some little discus, not in a good shape but eats well.

I'm thinking about decreasing the temp in one of my tanks to 25-26c and get him in. not ideal but at least its a better home for him!
