Does the Snakehead really deserve the bad reputation it has gained and the widespread malpublicity that it has recieved as " FISHZILLA "?
Invasive Aspect apart, what do MFKeepers have to say?

I owned one back in the day, and had to keep it by itself. A person could say that about many species of TF though. Electric catfish don't do tankmates any good either, most of the time.

Its odd to think back to when snakeheads were readily available at the LFS. There are still plenty of good, big carnivores a person can own, though. I personally don't miss them. But as they became illegal in the States, I did worry that more species would follow.

woops, didnt register the "invasive aspect apart." i think snakeheads look great in captivity and might be nice to own. crazy aggressive but nice colors and body shape.

in australia we can't get them. i was keen for one untill i found that out.

Snakeheads are my favorite fish. I use to have Redline Snakeheads and dwarf snakeheads. Very intelligent! The northern Snakehead is now established along the east coast. Channa Argus can survive the cold winters in the Northern states.
It is too bad they are illegal. The reason they are illegal: The national media got ahold of the Crofton, Maryland story, back in 2002.They made such a big deal out of it, blowing it way out of proportion. What happen next? The Government stepped in and decided to make them illegal. Now, if they would have taken the time and done some research, TAX PAYERS MONEY, they would have found out that they are not a problem.
Wildlife fish & game, feel we should embrace these fish, since they are here to stay. They have become great game fish. All studies/reports have shown snakeheads are not threatening other species, especially game fish.

LONG LIVE THE SNAKEHEAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Snakeheads are amazing creatures..
More personality then an oscar
yet more ferocity then any piranha
best of both worlds..
on the other hand many have kept them in comm tanks with no issues whatsoever..
sad fact is the US banned them, but there is a huge market in other countries
