that must be because channas are illegal in Australia?

Take a photo and get it ID'd here, or demand ot know what it really is. There's o such thing as a snakehead gudgeon.

HAHA, Gudgeon. Oh and Snakeheads aren't aggressive. They just like yo get CLOSELY aquainted with any smaller fish.

ewurm - you're completely wrong about that, I'm betting you've never kept a snakehead :)

I'd have to agree with rumblesushi. Snakeheads are UBER aggressive. I'm quite scared of my red growing up to be a monster. i can't wait.. but i will be scared.

Opiate, i've never kept a gudgeon before, but there are some beautiful looking ones. There's one called the goo goo gudgeon or something. thats is very colourful. Others range from turd coloured to blueish colours. .well all sorts really.. I don't know if they're are aggressive or not. Below are some pictures of a snakehead gudgeon followed by a very common snakehead.

There are 2 species with this common name and both are from Australia, Ophieleotris aporos and Eleotris margaritacea. The first species is found in both brackish and freshwater, and the second has a marine larval stage but then moves to freshwater. They both top out at around 8". Never seen either for sale in the UK. Sqratch what bis that top pic? It looks like a Parachanna.

I'm pretty sure by getting close to other fish he meant eat them.
that would be getting close alright lol.

Gudgeon is not a snakehead....there were on the front page of last months topical fish magizine or what ever it's called....they are a beautiful fish though you should buy it.
