Hi,
If your serious about the Channa your gonna have lose the Oscars there's now way that's gonna work for long.

The O's will either eat (kill),Stress out ,(kill) or force the Channa to escape the tank (Kill)
How ever you look at it will end badly for the Snakeheads.

Also the Channa on your list are all sub tropical species.I.E they live in cold water for part of the year,O's Dont.

Sub Trop Channa kept @ tropical temps permenantly will die young.

Cheers.;)

alright so can you give me a species of snakehead that can stay at 20-24 degrees all year that doesn't grow bigger then 12" ? and my oscars arent aggresive at allll. the 7 inch is in there with bala sharks and a black convict .. even a 3 1/2" inch redtail black shark .. and its best kind. every once and a while something gets in his way he might frighten it but thats it. only thing he ever even opens his mouth to is my other oscar and thats cause the smaller oscar torments him. but both are very peaceful and keep to themself .. until it's time to eat.

hi
get rid of the oscars mate or keep them and dont bother with the channa.
channa are best kept in a species tank.listen to freakdaddy he knows what hes talking about.
some guy on hear put a channa ornatipinnis in with his oscars and it didnt end well.

I would concur with the potential conflict between a smaller snakehead and the Oscar. I have a Channa G. with a Jack Dempsey and until I crammed the tank with cover the JD bullied the snakehead constantly.

tropical and that includes the o's ect will not do well at 20-24 deg and you will end up with whitespot ect. tropical will req higher temps ,

before anyone would give you a sugestion for a snakehead for your tank , we would need to know size and volume , this is important as some stay small but req a larger tank ect.
also a compleate list of your tankmates. but you should remember a single snakehead of most species will not do too well and esp with tankmates .

there are a couple of snakeheads that MAY do ok with tankmates but certainly no dwarf snakehead is suitable for a tank containing an oscar , no matter what you think or how docile you think the oscar is , we have had people come on before and heard loads of times "but my fish is diferant" "mine is docile" those people either continue by posting a few weeks later how either the fish will not eat , it has escaped or has been killed , save yourself some cash and your fish its life and listen to what the guys are saying , they speak from experiance

if you are still interested in snakeheads list the tank detail in full and we might be able to suggest something , but i have a feeling your tank will be unsuitable for any snakehead as it is now.

dont want to sound like iam bashing you , but if you go ahead with what your planning at the moment you will fail and be put off channa , do it right and you will probably get hooked and see why we like them so much

cheers col

thanks. I think i am going to try it out with either blerhi, pulchra or guacha in about two weeks when which ever i choose gets in. if it doesn't work out i'll place them in another tank until i decide how to re route my path.

also, I may have read you're post wrong but it seemed like you said oscars and stuff won't live at 24 degree water. I have both my oscars now in water that ios 24 degrees along with a black convict etc and they have been fine for a good while now .. the smaller oscar for over a year along with the BC. And as for tank mates .. All that will be in there will be the bigger oscar. posibblyyy the smaller oscar
