i am wondering if dwarf snakeheads can be kept with other fish. the species i have my eye on would be Channa pleurophthalma. tank mates would be datniodes - Datnioides microlepis, walking catfish - Clarias batrachus, possibly a gaint red fin gourami - Osphronemus laticlavius and possibly kissing gourami - Helostoma timminicki
what do you guys think ?

um are u sugesting that i go for a bichir instead ?
i am trying to stick to south east asian fish so i wouldnt consider one of these.
anyone ? surely there must be some snakehead keepers out there that can answer this question.
ive been reasurching this and some sources say yes as long as the fish are bigger than the snake head and wont be considered a meal but some say no (i have only found it to be no when looking at gaint snakehead compatability) i know with most preditors you are ok if the fish is bigger but as snakeheads take bites out of their prey and dont swallow it whole im guessing this rule doesnt apply so i just want to be clear before (so i dont lose any fish)

HI,

pleurophtalma are not a dwarf species of channa.
But I thing they could live in an asian tank with big datnoids, walking cat,an laticlavius.

But they grow not very fast, and small pleuros are often not easy to keep and die for unknown reason, and big ones are hard to get and/or expensive.

Cheers

Bichirs usually make excellent tankmates for snakeheads. Its probably due to the fact that they look kind of alike, so they dont quarrel with each other.

think of it as the best way to talk the wife/girlfriend into the bigger tank!

i call my tank U.S.A....AFRICANS,SOUTH AMERICANS,INDIANS ITS A HUGE SALAD BOWL

i made a bad decision before by putting an oscar with my auranti it was a bad mistake as the oscar took a chunk out of my auranti which survived and is back to full health 2 months later so its not just snakeheads that can smash up other fish it can be the other way which is not worth hurting these beauties the only time id keep any other fish with snakeheads is if it were a plec or a catfish that isnt going to get eaten
