2 species of channa (Maculata and Argus) are legal in Maryland, but those species are illegal to transport inside the state and are not a naturally ocouring species, therefor all found anywhere in the states are illegal.
it also does not matter if you owned them from before they became prohibited, all channa in the states are illegal. no vendor will sell channa to anyone if they are a responsible dealer who would like to keep there job. selling, transporting, or keeping channa of any sort, will get you a hefty fine, fish killed, and the possibility of jail sentenceing.

this guy is from the bay area in Cali (no suprise being that cali (so-cal in perticular) seems to be the are where most of the illegal fish trade has been takeing place over the past few years (mainly AA's)
