I have 6 redline snakeheads maybe about 6" and have 2 possible tanks for them to live in next. ones a 72"long x12"wide x18"tall and the others 48"x18"x18". I cant decide which would be the better tank for them to live in before they go into a pond. Do they typically like lots of room to swim back and frth or do they like more room to turn around easier? Plz help me out, info always appreciated.

The longer the better. Especially for 6 redlines! What size pond are these monsters going into? These guys need alot of room. I hope you're not planning to keep them in that tank too long. I'd put half in one tank, and half in the other.

The pond will prolly be around 650 gallons unless i decide to make it bigger. Since its an indoor pond space is an issue. Also i have a feeling these guys may become too aggressive to be kept together when they grow up or 2 might pair up and start pickin on others so keeping all 6 will prove to be a huge challenge. If worst comes to worst ill prolly just keep a pair.

never go for length over width for snakeheads.

they arent very flexible so a width of at least 24" for an adult is recommended.

agreed..if you can have both, then go for it . but if you have to choose one over the other, then get a wider tank.

I would go with the 48" and the extra width.

You are correct with your pond you will end up with one or if you are lucky a pair.

I agree, be ready to lose snakeheads, especially redlines !

thnx guys, guess ill go with the wide tank for now. Hopeully if i end up losing some itll be cause i give them away, they arent too common here so having them die would really be a waste, id like someone else to enjoy them if i cant.
