VERY BEAUTIFUL FISH, and i just wish i could own one, but honestly, both my red devil and oscar know people and food packaging, both are much more active to me than my gf, and also will only come to the top if i have the bio-gold bag in hand, they will eat other foods but can deff. tell what color bag is in my hand and react to it. just like when they see the ziploc bag full of frozen shrimp they both go nuts, and are in different tanks.

Ditto. I have two oscars that are that way. Act differently when different people are around. The same with the food but they will eat anything. I swear my oscars can tell when I am coming down my stairs. My fish hate my girlfriend. every time she opens the tank she gets a face full of water. It is very amusing.

I was a bit unclear, sorry.. what I meant was dats and channa are pretty much the only fish I have seen make decisions based upon some sort of intelligence.. what I mean is they seem to recognice faces, the colour of the food bag (if it is the sinking blue bag she stays at the bottom and will come to the top and wait at the spot where I usually feed). She seems to understand the fact of her being in a tank and so on.. no matter how excited she get she never rams the sides or anything, the waterchanges never bother her like it does with many other fish..

unfortunately I have no pics of the small sh's but I have a couple of pictures of my big girl and the dats..

also a vid..
what is the scientific name for that channa in the first picture that thing is beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing tank bro , I want a snake head so bad !!! I also want a AA also but that isn't going to happen anytime soon living here in the us , so many of the fish I want are baned and some of the ones that aren't band that I want are to expensive for the better quality fish..... but things are looking brighter my wife gave me the ok to upgrade to a bigger tank tax time :D I am so stoked its been a dream of mine since I was a kid to have a tank like yours .....

O before I forget sorry for your fish that past.. I have lost 4 in the last 2 days rainbow redtailed shark, channel catfish, angel fish and a poly :( mine wasn't as expensive as your but I had them for years and I too cried trieing to revive mine my wife came in the door and caught me crieing , really upset her cause I lost my mom earlier this year and it messed with me bad .

on a brighter note think you can post some more videos of your tank I'd appreciate it

thanks mate! appreciate it.. look on the bright side of it though.. even if there are many spiecies that in fact are banned you still have a much higher turnover of great fish.. there is 1 I sh t you not, 1 endlie for sale in sweden.. yes ofcourse there are more endlies but this one is the only where the buyer is actively trying to sell it.. leopoldi is 1800$ for a young male 2400$ for a young female.. motoro pups are 300$.. 2000$ for a 5" tigrinus.. you get my point? ;) the hobby is just not big enough to attract any serious money so if you want anything special you'll have work your a ss of to find it.. ofcourse me and the monster click over here get our things a whole lot cheaper than this but we stay a pretty closed society.. but that is understandable.. if a regular aquarist with a standard 24x24x7 stumbles over a pic of some rays or a tig or anything and he walks down to the lfs and asks for a tig and the clerk finds himself in a "huhawhat?-moment" and if he manages to find the fish on the import list and goes like; "fine sir, I'll have one here next thursday, that will be 2000$ and your 4" fish will arrive soon" who the hell will step it up to the monster game?

haha.. sorry for the "rant" but what I'm trying to communicate is that I would rather be in the states where availability is not an issue as long as you have some green.. and from my perspective the fish on mfk buy/sell isn't even expensive.. think of the australian guys and girls, 3 grand aros..

I just went outside to dig up a couple of juicy earth worms, the rope fish went for it straight ahead but the young snakehead who have never seen a worm ignored it. what he/she did was to just hoover above the rope fish as it searched the area. when the rope had eaten 3-4 worms the snakehead realized that worms were eatable and firmly puffed the rope to the side and snatched a worm. this can just mean one thing, the fish is able to learn by watching! :headbang2 wellwell.. nothing spectacular but still pretty awesome.. my 25" marulioides is able to tell different people and tell which foods comes in which packages.. the only fish I have ever owned that were able to make "decisions" were my 16" and 10" dats.[/QUOTE]
What native fish are like the snakehead and bowfin?
