Has a 300g with ONE snapping turtle. Pretty big tank, maybe you should talk to him...I dont think you will be able to keep him very long in the 100...I mean an inch or two more and w that tail hes not gonna be able to even turn around

yea where did you get that guy?
on another note hes pretty much alone in there and thats how it should stay, look into a bigger tank with more of a foot print, also have some sort of landing for it so it doesnt have to be in the water 24/7

Snappers only leave the water to lay eggs or get to water that isnt too deep.

If you picture your turtle standing up that is about how much water you want.

Yes i Agree

yeah hes gonna get big bro, and i agree with the pond idea. one option is to build an indoor pond out of plywood. 4x8 pc of plywood, make it a couple feet tall, put a spot in the corner thats out of water, and make the rest get gradually deeper. that way he can have some "fun" (if turtles have fun, i dunno) chasing live feeders if u go that route. a veiwing window would be optional.

as far as tank mates? another snapper? those guys r evil. i had one in a 75ft x 15ft x 9 ft deep pond @ my parents. i originally stocked it with catfish from fishing trips, and left over goldfish and bluegill that were intended for bait. the catfish got decent size, the goldfish slowly disappeared (also used dog food and some kinda fish food) - ne ways, one day, we caught about a nice 7 pounder and put it in the pond. about 4 hrs later i went out there and it was dead, floating, with about 5 bite marks out of him. so i set out a jug line with a hotdog, let it sit over night, next morning pulled out a 2'+ snapper out of the pond.

moral of this story?
THEY DO NOT PLAY WELL WITH OTHERS!! but you get a big enough space they should do ok with other snappers i would think

Yeah, and these days the 300 isn't seeming that big - Snappy is up to around 14"+ carapace length! I run an Eheim 2217 on Snappy's tank. It is a bit undersized, but as long as nobody overfeeds her the water stays quite clear.

One thing you need to be very aware of is that snappers will eat your filter if given a chance. The x-ray shows a piece of 1/2" x 4" acrylic tubing that Snappy swallowed ($600 vet bill) and the other picture shows the strainer from the 2217 after she played with it a bit. The white piece of PVC was supposed to protect the filter, but she managed to get the strainer off anyways...

As far as tankmates... well, good luck.

wow
That tank looks sweet...it does look small for a 300 tho w that big girl in there.
To the OP, id take a serious look at that and consider what you are gonna do
