I thought it was originally 2x4s also and was freaking out because i couldn't understand how it was holding, and there isn't even the 3000 pounds of water its going to hold!

If you take a careful look it is welded steel, with white enamel. Still looks shaky to me but i tend to go overkill on these kinds of things

OP; looks like it is going to be a beaut! can't wait to see what you work out for the sump.
