Wow..... that looks sweet, I'm definitely going to look further into it. Let me sk you this, how do you condition the water?

I don't. My fish use the same unfiltered tap water my family does.

That's cool, is there a way to test to see if its safe?

Not sure? I guess if the fish die it's not safe. Right now the fish are growing rapidly and lots of spawning so I figure the water is good.

Edit: Any leaks? Looks great filled :)

No, it looks fine but I could only fill to below the bulkheads in the back because I forgot to put the plugs in. Also, no one is here to help me take off the canopy. I think its good so I'm going to proceed with everything as planned.

View attachment 795581View attachment 795582 I installed saftey valves underneath the bulkheads.....hopefully I can do a test fill tomorrow....

Awesome tank! Congrats on the monster setup.. Also beautiful work on the stand and canopy..

Can't help but noticed you putting top off valves @ the bottom of the tank.. was there a reason for you to do that?
Reason why I'm asking is I have had experience with the same thoughts of easy water changes, but noticed when I did do the water change I had foul water come out that smelled like rotten eggs.. Due to lack of circulation into the line. Which created gas pockets and made my water go bad.. And noticed fish dying more often than normal.. My regime was water change 30% every 3days but it still had a bad experience with it until I capped the line. Keep in mind everyone has they're experiences so work out & some don't.. This is jmo.. (My tank was a 240g)

Either way when in doubt, Go MONSTER! =-)

This tank has 4 holes drilled in the bottom and 3 drilled in the back, my plan was to have the water drain from the bottom into a cannister filter and then pump back in through the back. I only put the valves on there as a saftey precaution just in case I ever needed to shut em off. I was going to just tie the 4th hole into one of the filter lines but thought it might make life easier if I could use it as a drain for water changes, but now you got me thinking. What you're saying makes perfect sense, when you have residual water like that it can go foul. I'm actually really glad you brought this to my attention. So now after a some brain storming I came up with a solution. What I can do is "T" it off in to the filter line and when I need to drain just close that line off and open up the "T" for drainage. Thanks bro!!!
