Sneek Peek at Current Project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I did not do it straight on the ground because if the floor gets wet beings it is in the garage I did not want water to creep under it and not be able to dry it up. I am going to fiber glass all the joints then use either sweetwater epoxy or pond armor. Not sure which one yet, leaning more towards pond armor
Call me Brudda when ya get a chance got some questions on this thing!!!!

What are you doing filtration wise? Hopefully you're leaning towards moving bed..... ;)

Can't wait to see the finished products...... And finished pics of the tank will be great too I'm sure.. :naughty:

Very thorough Mike. Subscribing...Now you're really going to produce some nice Jags....

Gonna go with a Aqua cannister filter with UV attachment which operates basically the same as a bio reactor but with backflush capability. Just gonna run it with a drip system for mechanical and bio. Gonna go as simple as simple can be. I was gonna go homemade on this job for filtration but wanted something bullet proof so I can focus more on the homeade heating and air system along with the tank construction.

You bet, gotta have a little more room to bring in some nice breeding stock

Intresting. Do you have a link? I thought half the reason that the moving beds worked so well was cause of air exchange. Curious how that's acomplished with a canister filter.

Good luck with the project. :)

Looks great Mike, i'll be keeping my eyes on this thread for sure..
I've been thinking hard about getting back in the ray game.. :)

Thats some serious dedication right there. Best of luck with your nice rays.

A couple current pics. Just have to finish screwing the plywood down, insulating and skinning the outside, then sealing the inside. All the components were bought today so nothing but work left.

Coming along nicely. Are you using glass or acrylic for your viewing window, thickness? Also is the divider going to be permanent or removable, reason I ask is it looks to be permanent and was wondering if the water was going to be able to flow between the sides.

I am using 1/2" acrylic for the windows. The water level will be 30 inches and the exposed part of the window will be 45" by 21". The divider is permanent, I am gonna but some holes along the bottom and the top to allow water to flow through. I made it permanent so I could use it to brace the front of the tank so it won't bow.
