Snooks Have Spawned !!!

UPDATE

Got me some wrigglers
Can't get a picture as they are so damn small. Probably around 50 at a guess. Thought mum was eating them but turns out some were hatching faster then others and hiding in the substrate.
She still isn't eating anything. Attacks the pellets and spits them back out. Headbutts the glass with vigour and won't let you near the tank. And they say snooks are placid little creatures

So will I be able to leave her in the tank with the fry until they are a decent size, 2'? Or will she eat them?
I know it will probably vary from fish to fish but just a general guide.
Also is it ok to do say a 10% water change as it is getting pretty messy or will the water change affect the fry?

Thanks for any advice.

Hoepe they don't get eaten, This question may have been answered, but i'm too lazy and tied to read over every post, Are you selling the fry?

I hope they don't get eaten too ;) They may get sucked up the canister filter inlet. Can't get my hand in the tank to do anything. She has moved about 5kg of gravel to the end of the tank so she can look after the fry.
I'll syphon out half of them and grow them up to sell. If I can get around 20 to selling size I will be happy.

Thanks for sharing, for the rest of us who've got snooks approaching breeding age/size we've got one more success to look too.

UPDATE

Just a few pics of the mini fry cloud. Heaps more fry then I originally thought. Mum is still not eating and I have started to sprinkle some fry powder into the tank. Going to leave them all in there with her until she decides she wants them out.
The male has started to flare up at the other females in the other tank. They all have their tubes down so I might have another batch soon enough :nilly:
Thanks for reading.

beautiful!!!!!! Got to love them. So is the pics of before or after you took some fry to raise? Glad you didn't loose all of them to the dad. 10% water change should be fine daily. They will grow fast that way too.:naughty:

Thanks mate.
I have left all the fry in the tank so far. Very tempted to leave them in there with mum until they are about 2cm. She still isn't eating. Losing a bit of conditioning but was very healthy before having the fry so I think thats a key. Haven't seen her eat in about 2 weeks.
Thanks for the advice on the water change. Will do one today :headbang2
The tank is a 5x18x18 so there is enough room for a few hundred fry to grow out :)

She should be eating :irked:. I've breed several american substrate spawning cichlids and never had a mom not eat. I guess I never had to remove the dad before either though. Could be due to added stress of him not taking his gaurd duty turn:confused:. if she was fat and healthy before the spawn she should be good for another week maybe. I'd look for her to eat soon. What's her diet like ? Maybe try her absolute favorite food. Best wishes with the fry and possible next spawn, naughty little boy snook:ROFL:
