Then again, you probably get Hurricane Days or Earthquake Days (thinking of you, Gr8) or Heat Wave Days.

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

So when you have snow days, do you have to make it up at the end of the day?

The other day we had an earthquake drill. Later on that day after school we actually had an earthquake!!! After talking about it with the kids, they actually all did what they were suppose to!!! :)

We also have alot of plane crash drills. Nearby is a major airforce base...

My highschool refuses to allow snowdays for some ungodly reason. Last night it was 30 and raining and this morning it was -6 and windy so my car was covered in 1/2" of ice, plus the majority of the busses were 1-2 hours off schedual. My school could be buried in snow but would still operate.

What you get a day off for a dusting of snow like that!!! No fair!

I know, it really isn't. :) Actually we've had to go to school when we've got over a foot at the school. Our district Office is at 300' elevation and we're at 1500', so they usually don't close until things are really bad up here. They closed today because of ice more than snow - it was all slushy in town last night when the temp dropped.

Wind chill is -25 (yes negative) and we still have school here

I guess it's recess in the gym...

Also, its -8 degrees right now :(

Yikes! I don't think it has ever gotten below zero here. Up in the mountains it will, but not that often.

I miss Snow Days. Although were i used to live in Syracuse,NY , they wouldnt call a snow day unless all the busses were frozen to the parking lot and the windchill was cold enough to flash freeze your nose off your face.
But when we DID get them, it sure was fun.

Now i live in San Diego,

Out here the kids get Fire Days and they used to get Smog Days. (for real) lol

We only have to make them up if we go over five days, which hasn't happened for a few years. The valley schools get two, but we go a little longer each day to make up the difference.

That's cool (sort of) about the earthquake - it was the perfect reinforcement to your lesson :)

Now, back to cleaning my sump!

This was last year. When it dumps on us we spend a lot of time digging out, but the kids actually fight over who gets to shovel. :)

i got out of school today due to an ice storm, the school, along with many students, lost power. we got out of school on friday because of this aswell :D

I'm a grad student, so no time off :p

Last night I shovelled knee-deep snow from my deck... it has stopped snowing today, but lots to keep me busy.
