Snow for water changes?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think rain water starts polluted but may freshen up over time since it does a good job of catching and keeping crap in the air. I dont know how pure it gets in any city though nor how long it takes to get there. I'd avoid it unless youre going to filter it first.

Okay, thanks for the response! I'll pass on it. Would the same be true of rain water?

Unless you filter it a lot, rainwater isn't really that safe. Tap water is very cheap where I live, and it is worth the price. If you have to, you can buy 20c RO water

How much RO can you get for twenty cents?

Around here it costs only 15-25 cents for a gallon. It is cheapest at the LFS, my mom is afraid to drink RO from the LFS so she buys the 25 cent kind. I tell her "if it isn't killing my corals, it won't kill you"

Lol,good point...There was one LFS here that used to sell it,before the place burned to the ground, but I checked the price...

I guess there was a lot of electricity to start it or heat, because there probably was plenty of water to put it out/delay it.

I think that around here all of the LFS's sell it. There are probably water shops/machines near you that sell RO water too.
