Ok. Thanks guys.

@ welsher7: "Pebble tooth"...I'll figure this out someday...lol. Thanks for the correction.

@Ptrick125: Thanks for the info. I did not know if they were captive bred or not. It didn't say anywhere online. Knowing that now, it makes sense that they would be stubborn about picking off inverts. WWM did say that if it was overfed, it would cause health problems. How fed is overfed? Do you know? Should I be feeding him daily, more, less?

Oh, and can I tong train an eel? I know they have poor eyesight so it might not matter, but I've read about several people training their animals (albeit mostly lizards) to respond to tongs as a food signal and take the food from there. I was wondering if that would work with an eel. I figure its worth a thought if nothing else....

"train" is a strong word to use around fish :) But there is a very good chance you could get an eel to respond to tongs. Many people use tongs with their predators, when I get my lionfish I will use tongs for sure.

You can tell if a fish is well fed is by watching their growth. If your fish (or eel) is not growing as much as it should, feed more... If it gets kind of plump, it's hard to tell, but feed less.

My silver Arowana won't eat food unless I hold it w my hand on the top. They will respond to patterns but they are fish. Don't keep anything u don't want gone with those kind of fish.

I'm thinkin' of doin' the samething - takin' out the sps + lps (doin either 55 or 75 gal coral only) from my 210 and goin mushrooms/ricodea + plus a few preds (niger trigger, Snowflake Eel, Cow fish + Harlequin tusk) - gettin' bored with the lil' guys + tangs.

For the most part I feed my zebra eel when it is in it's PVC tunnel. That way he just sticks his head out and hold a shrimp or whatever right in front of his head. The eel will pull the food inside the tunnel. Then repeat until it stops feeding. But with my eel you have to be quick because once the shrimp hits the water the eel can smell it and will start looking for it. That is how my trigger accident happened.

What about a Golden dwarf moray eel? I just stumbled on them today. They are supposed to be rare and expensive I guess? Anyone know anything about their price and availability? Personality? He might fit perfectly with my set up.

They are pretty awesome, small, and they aren't expensive as they used to be...see them in the 170-200 range
