snowflake "freshwater moray" not eating

yea you have to acclimate slowly, he might just be stressed and getting used to it. he'd do best in a 40breeder if you can get one due to the fact it has a bigger bottom. i fed mine live ghost shrimp, freezedried krill, and bloodworms. i had to feed the ghost shrimp and the krill with tweezers and i had to reverse the suction on the gravel vac for him to eat, he was very picky but theyre cool, hope he pulls through

This is exactly what ive been looking for. Just got the so called FW eel and now im going to set up brackish for it. Was worried about not doing the transition right but yours even being sick took to a fast change. I guess they are really strong fish in the right water. this thread is a few months old is he still alive?

unfortunately not. He passed away one night when I was at a friends house, still don't know why he was eating and seemed happy when I left. They are very cool fish but I don't plan on getting another one any time soon. I wish you and your fish the best of luck. I'm sticking with the fish I know better CICHLIDS

Snowflake eels are strictly saltwater eels. In the wild they eat mostly shrimps and crabs.

a lot of you guys keep saying this but the fish this guy had was not a saltwater moray it was the brackish type. They are two different morays, look them up. It would probably kill the eel to put it in SW just as fast as it would FW. I just dont want anyone to read this, get confused, and kill an eel while trying to do the right thing for it.

Hate to here ya lost it

I plan on moving mine over to brackish slow hope he does well. Very cool fish when the lights go out. I keep guppies in the tank now but have no idea if he is eating because I have other hunters in the tank, in fact they all are. I usually drop in some beef heart before lights out but think im going to get some shrimp to dangle in front of him.
