Tongs isn't that great for cichlids, for reef stuff they're ok but they are WAY, WAY over priced on EVERYTHING they sell. Some thing (Dry goods especially) they sell at over a 400% markup... They sell lights from www.Hellolights.com
They get in a light thats maybe, $100-$130 and sell it for like $250+ its ridiculous.

Gotta be one of the worst LFS I have seen as far as FW goes, lots of sick fish, they're in better condition with the wholesaler, they had some FW barracuda in, i was impressed first interesting thing they had in a long time... Two days later they had white eyes and fungus all over.

Not to mention i've seen them sell "Rare white coral" which is actually, dying bleached/bleaching coral.

I'm going to head down to Ocean Blue tomorrow, I have heard its a great store, so close and I've never been. I will look for some viejas to toss into a 125 that I acquired, and some severums for a community tank. Will let everyone know how it went. (for those who don't know about the place, or have never visited).

That'll be cool, make sure to post about it. I've been wanting to go for some time.

Fish Fantasy

I went there today, and I was impressed, they have a wide selection of fresh water fish as well as saltwater/reef. The freshwater fish that stick out in my head are small 4 inch Red Tailed Cats for $20, a lot of different bichers including some albinos, some pBass, and others. They also have tons of replacement parts for filters, and other equipment. As far as tanks their selection is small, but they get stock by three different wholesalers, and if you come in when they are there you can get your hands one some nice fish. Overall they are a great store decent prizes and good people. I will go to Ocean Blue tomorrow for the first time, and see how that goes.

Awesome, looking forward to see how Ocean Blue is.

I went Atlantic Tropical Aquarium for pricing on tank and saw their fish selection. Poor service and will try to sell you things you don't need. This place is a hole in the wall sort of place and the guys there are shady.

If you want a excellent service and best acrylic tank price then go top Jim's Exotic Fish. He will offer FREE delivery service on tanks if you're within a 10mile radius. Excellent servic, excellent price on fish and equipments, wide selection of fish and salt.

Jim's Exotic Fish
630 North Sepulveda Boulevard
El Segundo, CA 90245
310-322-FISH (3474)

Here is a list of places I've been to and have had good experience with. I left Sunset Aquarium out in El Monte since that was already mentioned in a previous post.

Super Pets
9403 Las Tunas Dr
Temple City, CA

626-237-0715

Super Pets is kind of like Petsmart but wider selection of fish and equipments. Excellent price and friendly service.

CK Aquarium
431 S San Gabriel Blvd
San Gabriel, CA

CK Aquarium sells a lot of off brands China made equipments. I wouldn't recommend buy off brand China made stuffs unless you have confidence in there product. Good place to buy aquarium background, floss, bio cermic rings, fish food, and small tanks under 20gallons. For example, I paid $2 a ft for 24 width background. Petsmart would sell the same for $7 a foot. They have a decent selection of arros, plecos, flowerhorns.

Jebo Aquarium Warehouse
513 Monterey Pass Rd.
Monterey Park, CA
626-289-8326 Cell: 626-226-9038
http://www.jeboaquarium.com

This place is an authorized Jebo seller. They only have Jebo stuffs and carry a complete line of Jebo products. This is a warehouse type of setting and they do not sell fish. Offer great prices on Jebo products. Ask for Chris/Store Clerk was very helpful.

Lee's Aquarium
319 E Garvey Ave
Monterey Park, CA

626-571-4982

Small place but has really good fish selection. He get dats, arapiagma, rays, sturgeon, bichirs, atf, red belly. Price is not cheap but fair.

Must agree. Tongs in fountain valley is EXPENSIVE!!

there's a LFS on the corner of La Palma and State College, probably in fullerton, not sure of the name, that has a great variety of cichlids for a fair price.

Glad to see this thread is still going lets continue it.
