I installed my eheim classic 2215 a couple weeks ago. And as I am monitoring it tonight I noticed a drip a minute leak right in the middle of the double tap connection on the outlet side. Its not the hose connection it is the double tap connection. I tried tightening it as best I could but it persists. Anyone else have this experience ? Any Ideas ? teflon tape ? I have no idea what to do and this is my third filter failure in a matter of 2 months !
I am aware this could sound like user error and while it is possible. I use my hands for a living I design and engineer heating cooling refrigeration and ventilation systems and have done my fair share of plumbing and am certified to work on gas lines. But this damn aquarium equipment has me through a loop

So sorry for the rant I just had to let that one out :nilly::nilly::nilly:

bumpity fizzle dizzle

Your not the only one man-
Personally I think Ehiem is garbage in the build quality.......I have used 2 exspensive filters from then and have had the same problem-Mind you this is someone who runs over 15 other canister filters---So it's not like I dont know what I am doing either.....

It has pissed me off enough to never buy another one of their filters.....

If the drip is leaking out between where the two halves of the Q.D. come together, you might want to check that the o-ring isn't twisted or have a nick in it. If the o-ring looks OK, just put a bit of lube on it and reconnect. Also, don't over tighten the connection or you might crack the plastic.

Thanks guys ill look at doing that deeda

i have a cheap jebo filter ive went back to after using an eheim 2215. it is much better. i wont use eheim again as the classics are supposed to be the daddies of filters. i will be getting an fx5 when i have the cash spare and a stand big enough to house one.

Jebo is better than eheim ? I find that hard to believe. comparing one product to one other product you have purchased does us no good. When you test 100 to 100 products then you can judge quality IMO . I was just frustrated I got one of the few that leaked, it happens though . Remember Ferrari's have more mechanical problems than Honda Accords. But which car would you rather drive ?

Tcarswell, you're funny with the ranting. I feel your frustration with the leak. I went through a lot to learn about canister setups. I have never experience with Eheim brand tap valve since I use Marineland tap value. If these tap valve are similiar to Marineland valve then you definitely do not want to over tighten.

How old are the valves? The rubber on the o-ring harden and do not seal if this is old.

I still like my Eheim Pro II filters and Rena XP3. I can get Jebo for 1/4 of that price but I choose not to buy it for a reason.
