Had 2 clowns, 2 snails, and two shrimp for 2 weeks, and 1 week for the clowns. The past 2 days have yeided algea. Starfish help??? Suggestions please.

Have you checked your parameters? You may have stocked to quickly check your parameters try to do some water changes and see what happens. You also may not have a large enough cleaner crew start with the parameters, if they are ok then slowly build up your clean up crew.

Also aour tank wont be completely algae free you will have to do some manual cleaning as well.

the salinaty , nitrates / rites, all in good range
will do a water change... ten gallons tomorrow. I have 2 snails, 2 shrimp for 90 gallons. I guess The cleaner crew is hiring.

yah you definitely need more then that for a clean up crew I would add some slowly. turbo snails are good, asteraea conehead, nassarius and Cerith snails are all good. you can use hermit crabs but they aren't a must and they will eat snails. You can use brittle stars as well they will help.

where is your phosphate's at? And, what are all the tank livestock and how many snail's to check the algae when it does come around? Also how much and often do you feed and what?

Get alot more snails and hermits and you'll be good maybe even a Starfish

As Reef said, look into your phosphates. I had a similar problem with cyanobacteria and phosphate remover and a 3 day blackout worked wonders. Don't do a blackout if you have any coral however.

And your also going to need a bigger clean up crew.

Wow... rookie mistake, my test strips do not even list posphates on them. I will get a test for them today...
My total live stock: 90 gallon: (2) clown, (2) snail, (2) shrimp

I have been gowing really slowly.

What about the pink / purple spiny worms I found in the tank, are they harmful? The biggest one was a little over an inch.
