Swap out the background and add some "morning wood".

I agree the background is too busy. It is about 5 years old from when I just had Oscars in the tank. Thanks for the critiques, I will hopefully get a different background up within the next few weeks.
 
nice looking tank, but if it were mine, here's what i would do differently:

- different background, solid black
- different rockwork that could be stacked taller to create more caves, like lace rock, etc

i love your sand! i agree that the background should be switched to black or blue.. im not a fan of pictured backgrounds myself. i think i see a venustus in there! my favorite! my male is around 9 inches long.. beware that yours will get big and they like to eat anything they can cram in their mouths.. like that small tang fish in there lol..

just keep an eye on him. i tried raising mine with a group of fish.. he was fine until he reached about 5 inches.. then he started eating his tankmates lol..
 
You might find the rocks look different with the black background. Looks good BTW and your fish are nice, just becareful some dont end up snacks like stated previously LOL.
