I care for my buddies tanks while he is at holiday. I did a waterchange yesterday and to get the water out i sucked on the tube. Well suddenly it blocked and i tried hard, it made a plop sound and i had his juvenile fire eel in my mouth and in reflex gulped it down...If i dont get a new one soon, then im screwed...

I normally just get a mouthful water when i do that too careless. I guess its better to use that mehod not wih small fish in the tank.

So you sucked down a fish while starting a syphon, sounds like some real sucking power.Hate to see you with a golfball and a length of garden hose.

That's not good at all. Sometimes hard to find them also.

my guess is you have no clue what you are talking about. that fish was just few cm long. It was very small and did spit out most of the water but unfortunately not that small guy. They are not so easy to get here and expensive so i look it up where i can get a replacement.

You know there is a much better way of starting a siphon than sucking on the disgusting hose right?

Put the main part of the hose in the tank, with the hole facing up. Let it fill up all the way then jerk it out of the tank. Let the water drain half way out of the main part and then quickly put the hose back in the water. The force of the draining water will start the suction again.
