so i ate my first fire eel yesterday...

I care for my buddies tanks while he is at holiday. I did a waterchange yesterday and to get the water out i sucked on the tube. Well suddenly it blocked and i tried hard, it made a plop sound and i had his juvenile fire eel in my mouth and in reflex gulped it down...If i dont get a new one soon, then im screwed...

I normally just get a mouthful water when i do that too careless. I guess its better to use that mehod not wih small fish in the tank.

HAHAHAHAHA....

While sucking in the hose, don't you get a whole lot of crap with water. Lol. Use physics, create a vaccum by closing of the opposite end if the hose. Then tilt the hose, with the closed end below the height of the hose in the tank, now let her rip.

Can't believe anyone would suck on the hose.

it caused no health problems lol and no, it was not tasty, it was simply too small, so don't worry, i won't eat anymore of those. Well stuff like that happenes when you hurry too much.

You know there is a much better way of starting a siphon than sucking on the disgusting hose right?

Put the main part of the hose in the tank, with the hole facing up. Let it fill up all the way then jerk it out of the tank. Let the water drain half way out of the main part and then quickly put the hose back in the water. The force of the draining water will start the suction again.

Or just look at this link

Or you could do it the easy way: submerge the entire siphon and let all of the tubing fill with water, cover the small end with your thumb, and pull that end out of the water while holding the large end in the water, then just move your thumb and let the water flow.

that would work if it would be a siphon. But it is just a hose. Im a bit in stress this week and had not much time. Thats the problem. But i already got a replacement. I hope it arrives here asap.

It would work either way... or you could just suck on it till it got past the highest point and then stop (well before it gets to your mouth)...

I don't understand how someone can suck so hard to the point where they have to swallow what comes at them..

Poor eel..

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:

usually if something foreign comes into my mouth (which isnt very often)my first instinct isnt to swallow its to spit it out haha i wonder how your friend would feel that you ate his eel also agree with whoever said if there is something blocking its not very smart to suck harder haha
