Should not have done what he did? What exactly did he do? He just messed around with a puffer a little bit, not hurting the puffer in any way.

Seriously guys, don't turn all PETA all of a sudden. It was all harmless fun. Nobody and nothing got hurt.

Most of the fish kept as pets get worse treatment in the long run than that puffer did.

so what youre saying is that if you had that fish in a tank of yours, and some guy decided to mess around with it, you would be totally cool about it?

I'm pretty sure that messing with that puffer and stressing him out to the max like that is very unhealthy for that fish. I was told that getting puffers to puff is very bad, atleast in captivity. I'm not sure about how offen they do it in the wild.

but anyways, people should respect wild animals and not play ocean soccer with them. Hence the guys a Douch.
imho

Wouldn't soccer require kicking the fish?

Besides, they puff up to deter predators... and in the open ocean predators pretty much come at you 24/7.

Except that's the thing, it's NOT in a fish tank. It's not going to have to deal with ammonia or nitrites or nitrates or glass boundaries or peering human faces once it escapes.

but it still has to deal with a-holes who think its a toy.

Yeah, like, once in its entire lifetime.

Hell, birds undergo more stress simply by being tagged and released, then recaptured and logged and released, and over and over and over.

The point is that the puffer was not harmed in any way. Is it distasteful? Sure. Is it cruel? No.

How about if one of the other divers swam over and ripped his face mask off?
No real harn done right? Just alittle stress to the diver.

Did the puffer get any part of its body ripped off? No. Was its breathing impaired in any way? No. Stop making false comparisons.

I dont think cruel is the right word to use...that's just my opinion though.
