Prefer to stick with Nikkor Nikon lenses for now. I see ones like:
18-55 3x
18-135 7.5x (seems to be very popular)
18-300

etc etc

going to be used for my fish, obviously lol, and other sports, nature mostly type stuff

16-85mmVR and a 70-300mmVR for walk around stuff plus a macro lens like a 60mm AFS or 105mmVR for fish photography. If you're doing sports you need faster lens like a 70-200mmVR.

Ideally, 60 mm f/2.8 or 105mm f/2.8 for aquatic purposes. The 70-300 mm VR is okay for nature as long as objects are fairly static, otherwise the 70-200 mm f/2.8 will be required for bird in flight pics and such.

I got the 18-135 lens with the body... no quarrels with it. Some of the VR lens seem better than others, my dad has the 70-200, and I quite liked that lens. Sigma also do some good lenses... almost bought the sigma 18-200 the other day, but decided I'd want a more dedicated zoom lens.

well I can get it packages ith a sigma 70-300 and a nikom 18-55 or just a 18-135 nikon for the same price pretty much? which should I do? the 18-135 pkg or the pkg with the other 2?

I personally don't care for the 18-55. IMO, it's the worst zoom nikkor makes. The 18-135 will do for an all-purpose lens, whereas the 70-300 not so good for wide angle.

agreed with all of these. i own all but the 105 VR, which i plan to add soon- heard nothing but great reviews for it.

As for nature i would also definetly add a wide(r) angle than the 16-85mm. Its a great wide zoom. but i much prefer 12-24mm Nikkors or Tokina's for large landscape shots.

I assume you already bought a overhead Flash? (SB400-800)

im so confused... So say I want a lens strictly for my fish and then a lens strictly for nature....?
