I have a 180g tank with corner overflows with input and output in each corner. I have a rtc, tsn, albino clownknife, alligator gar, silver arowana, and a pacu and they get along fine in the 75g they are in now.All but the pacu are about 11" long the pacu is 5". I have a 55g tank that i was going to use as a sump tank i also have a marineland c350 that i was also going to use in combination with the sump as a water poilisher i also have well water and plan on doing a drip system will this be enugh filtration? and please dont say i need a bigger tank i know i need a bigger tank and i am on the look out for a larger tank so that i can devide the fish into two tanks.
thank you for your help.
ps i know i cant spell and have bad gramer!

The sump should be fine, but the turn-over rate is determined by the return. I would recommend a 900gph minimum on the return alone. As for polishing the water, the canister will be okay, but I would only put mechanical media in it and leave the bio for the sump. With a bio-load such as yours, 5g of bioballs min.,just my opinion. Whatever the bio-media you decide, remember that the 900gph is after you have calculated head pressure.

Thanks i was going to put 5g of bioballs on both sides of the sump and put some plants in the middle before the pumps. I was going to use two pumps so if one went bad or i had to work on one i would still have water flow does this sound ok? is ther a pump you would recomend?

Dude I wish you the best of luck, but with the size of that tank someone is gonna say something...

I know i just got the tank, stand, and 2 c350s for 350$ on cl and iam still looking for a bigger tank and if i cant find one iam going to build a 600g plywood tank.

once you get rid of the gator gar, rtc, tsn and pacu rethink the filtration. the silver aro wont be comfortable in a tank like that for life. gator gars dont make great tankmates for anything especiall other species up top. even if you do build a 600g tank, depending what the dimensions are, still wouldnt house all those fish comfortably for life. i mean if anything, get rid of the rtc, pacu and alligator gar, set up the 180 with about a 7x's turnover rate and look for a bigger tank right away

iam going to be building a 500 or 600g for the rtc, tsn, and gator gar after xmas so they will not be in the tank forever. Now i did plan on leaving the rest in the 180 is that going to be a problem?

what are the dimensions of the tank? if its not like 10x4 or something similar then your gator will not be comfortable. the aro would work in the 180 for a while, but not for life

I planed on making a large show tank in my shop never thaught about the exact size but it will be 12'x5'x5' which is almost 2000g now that i did the math, and when i build this the aro and others will go in the 580 which is 84"x40"x40" and i know i only have about 6 mounths before the tank is over crowded and i can asure you i will have the 580 up and running before then.
