So I have something I want to talk about...

I’ve had plenty of buyers do this. Both serious and time wasters.

The latest time waster asked for individual pictures of my koi fry. Fine, I have plenty of extra pictures different from the ones I posted. Sent.
Then they remark on how one has a crooked tail. Uh, no. It was obviously moving when I took the picture. It did not have a crooked tail. Whatever.
Then they want pictures of the parents..... ok. I had to dig through months of photos to find spring/summer pictures of the fish who spawned.
Sent.
Then they ask where I’m located. Ugh! This is almost always my cue to give up on a buyer. It’s listed in my posting. It’s like their excuse to say it’s too far.
I got silence after that.

Then get this. Christmas Eve afternoon while my family are opening gifts I get a text. It’s that same person! They ask if I have any koi for sale. Nope! Not for them I don’t.

Anyway.... I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for pictures. I like to see what I’m going to be buying before wasting time and gas. Granted that guy is really close. And being that close I personally wouldn’t ask for pictures.
Group pictures only for schoolers. Like others have said, it’s to show the conditions they are in and confirm you actually have them.
BUT if they are demanding individual pictures I’d just kindly explain that it is unreasonable to expect individual pictures of fish that look identical more so when it’s so many. Group pictures only and they are more then welcome to see them in person. If they complain then they are just messing with you.

Selling sucks a lot of the time. Since most of us aren’t running stores a bit more is expected, but it should be kept reasonable.

That was an unreasonable request. I might counter with an representative example or a full tank shot but I’m not stressing to catch the fish that as you describe are holotypes.

The one example where I would want a specific picture is a costly or rare or confirmed pair

Yup. Like I said, if I was selling rays or flowerhorns I would have pictures of every individual. These are fish I’m selling for .25-4 bucks each. There is no way I am chasing down fourty young zebra danios unless someone is there with cash in hand.

In my opinion it’s rude to ask something like that in the first place. It’s like people that drive 20 under the speed limit on a one lane road. It basically says that person only cares about themselves and doesn’t give a rats behind about anyone else’s time.
