So I picked up a royal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Make a write up if it they like it! I'll make sure to vary the plecos diet, is there any way to sex them?
lol yea, you put a few in a tank and if they pair up, you have a male and female haha

On a lighter note, it's always fun to experiment w/ various veggies to see which they like best. If I want to try a food, I just rubberband it to a rock and sink it, that way it's less likely to get sucked into the filter

Well depend in each personality, I used to have a Royal Pleco for few years but I rarely see him in day light LOL. It's always stay in his favorite wood and look out and move around only when light out, he was in same tank with a shoal of Exodon in 150G, it's true that it's a poop machine and you can see clearly his carve mark on the wood 24/7. it was around 10 inches when I sold it.

Oddly enough mine spends most of his time on the glass, most likely hasn't found the wood yet lol sounds like a cool fish!

I put zucchini or cucumber in between the glass magnet and put it right in front of his driftwood

Awesome find Dustin! How big do Royals get? What size tank do you have?

I did something similar today. Stopped by my LFS to pick up a bottle of Prime and wound up buying a pair of cute little bristle nose plecos. First time pleco keeper here. He didn't even have any Seachem Prime in stock today either LOL!

I've got some decent sinking wafers to feed these little guys, but I'll have to do it after dark to keep the tankmates from eating it all first.

They get big sadly like 17 inches is what I've heard. I have a 45 gallon tank so I'm going to grow him out a bit then I know someone who wants him. Did you get a breeding pair of bristlenoses? I've heard they breed pretty easy I've always wanted to try it myself. I've had bristlenoses before and my little guy was very brace even bullying some of my other fish that tried his food! You should have yours eating like a pig within a month. Very neat fish

I have no idea what the sexes are of the pair of BNs I bought. I put them in my planted 55g that has two adult SAEs, two adult angels and a little keyhole cichlid. The little BNs are all over the hardscape for sure. Way more active than I thought they would be. Like I say though, I fear the SAEs will gobble all their food. Frikkin things are total hogs.
