holy crap 20 lbs test on LMB .. i use 20lbs on steel head that run in lake Michigan .. i use like maybe 12 max for LMB .. what size LMB do you think your going to catch??Polyptasaurus;3250825; said:
there are 18" LMBs in that lake man, they're tough. I only had 20lb on there because I left too early to go to the store. I was out there at 5:30am. I had the 20lb test still on there from when i was fishing off the docks for salt water. I got a box of line, 8lb (for snappers), 12lb for fresh, 20 for a lot of salt, and 40 for deep sea

yea i mean i catch some big lake trout, king salmon, and steel head but have never needed more then 20lb test to hall in big fish. 20lb test could hall in a 18 lb LMB without any drag and just pull and real .. lol .. thats not fishing at that point .. its just catching ..
well of course, lol, like i said, thats not what i'd normally use. It was such a pain in the *ss too man because using such small and light bait, with such heavy line (heavy for what i was doing) it was so hard to cast it out to where I needed it. It was like trying to throw a feather into the wind - just wasnt going anywhere. i could see these monsters jumping in the middle of the lake and could only cast it halfway too em, lol.

i was really hopin to hook a few chain pickerel, those guys can put up a decent fight. its hard though, cuz once you go fishing for northern pike, other freshwater fish dont compare, lol. Pretty much gotta go to some heavy salt water fish for a good fight. Ive never fished steelhead though but they're some pretty big fish.
