Decent juvies go for that much here. But as others have mentioned we can catch our own here to.:headbang2. Anyone can stumble across huge specimens cheap sometimes. Years ago when I worked for petco I ran the number one swfish dept. (extremely well polished turd). I recieved a random fed box of fish of crap on sale and out popped a huge 12-14'' Queen Angel. Priced to move at 49.99!lol. I was happy one of my regulars picked it up for her 460g tank and not some douchebag with a 75g. I had a 12'' Powder Blue Tang show up the same way and on sale for 69.99. Some retard bought it 2hrs after it came in and left it in the bag all day and killed it.:screwy: I know cause he called *****ing wanting a refund he did not recieve..

god I dont miss retail.

CaribbeanCreatures.com sell an 8" Queen for under 100.00 plus shipping. 500 dollars is gouging. They are not a rare fish

I agree $500 is steep. But that fish in the pic may be bigger than 8''. Show sized specimens (10''-14'') are usually $200 and up. Queen Angels are not rare but huge specimens of anything in sw are rare. Even if the species is plentiful collectors just typically don't bother harvesting such huge fish for a variety of reasons. But a big one is sell-ability. Most mom & pop LFS (or hobbyist for that matter ) aren't going to buy large numbers of them as well as being difficult to transport and house. The trade in primo public-aquarium grade specimens is very select and ridiculously large amounts of money change hands before the fish reach there final destination.

For the most part if you have a system worthy of housing fish like that the cost of livestock usually isn't an issue.lol. We brought in a 3ft Ep. Shark for a client once. The retail on him ended up being insane. Like 600-700 i think.

Although we aren't Joe Bob's Bargain Fish Barn.:grinno:

Nice pictures, thanks for sharing them. Love the ray

man i live in the mountains in colorado where a clownfish less than an inch runs for 45 bucks easy. That fish would proboly go for 2 grand no joke.
