So many Sales, which one?

Petsupermart and Petco are both having sales on the second. Which one is better and which choice.
1x55 gallon tank with hood and lights=100 dollars
1x55 gallon tank without hood or lights=55 dollars
1x40 breeder without hood or lights=40 dollars
Is there a cheap way to build a hood. Can I build a cheap screen lid and use regular lights?

To answer your question, I would definitely spend the extra $45 and get the hood/lights. You would most likely spend close to that much on materials anyway.

I hate the plastic hoods and much prefer the glass canopies. Does it come with two 24" lights or single 48".

Home Depot and Lowes cut glass. You can always give them the dimension of your tank's opening and see if they would order the exact dimension for your tank. Plus, their price are pretty reasonable. Good luck

It's a cheap plastic hood with I think 2 24's but it might be 2 12's

Even if the plastic hoods are lame, one with a 48" light fixture for $45 sounds like a good deal. If it is 2 24" ones, while not as good of a deal.....it doesn't sound too bad.

Yeah but Im tempted to get a 40 breeder that extra few inches of width make all the difference. I lose a foot of length but the width allows me to keep slightly larger fish.
