You call it a myth.. but if I am not mistaken most fish exude a hormone that inhibits growth? which is partially why water changes are so important? and in 20yrs of keeping fish, I've never seen an arrow in a tank that size from a juvie not be stunted in a tank of that size. personally I'm leaning towards the belief thay bought the fish that size and put it into that size of a tank. and it hasn't been in there long. there seems to be no lack of healthy muscle, the fish obviousely has little to no room for exercise. it's a toned "healthy" looking fish. I'm not saying it's not possible... But I highly doubt this fish grew-up in that tank. and I highly doubt the fish has been in that tank long.

This person is selling the fish, not the tank.

What type of arrow is it? I'm not farmilular with asian arrows since they are illegal in the states. but if this is the case with this fish.. That explaines alot...

It is possible... But... I smell something fishy with that picture.
never heard that about the hormone, corals will do chemical warfare tho.
its possible you thinking about nitrates stunting growth.

but i do kinda agree i dont think it would get that big in the tank size, not because of the the myth, but because i would think the guy would have crashed the tank feeding it enough to get that big unless its extremely old

it could not have been grown up in that tank.

there is no way you could ever keep the water quality good enough to keep a fish like that alive in that small of a tank. unless you feed it once every two weeks and then it wouldnt grow up nice like that anyway..

that person went out and probably bought a big arro.

or, its a photoshopped pic.

dunno . . . my brother keeps two very large Dats in a 55G that I would never think would be big enough . . . the water is clear, and the fish are healthy

I'm not recommending it, just noting it . . .

if thats the biggest picture there is then there is no way to tell how healthy or unhealthy that fish is. the pic is just way too small to see anything more than the size of the fish and the outline of the fish.
the hormone only slows growth it doesnt stop it so the myth is still that, a myth.

the only thing that gets me is if they put that fish in there at that size, he would have smashed that tank like nothing either from the release into the tank and trying to find some place to hide or when they feed it. my oscar is nowhere near that size but still does damage to my decor when he is feeding, like all osacars do but still it makes me feel like i know something LOL!!!

well got an email back from him sayin to make an offer on the fish so I am gonna ask for some closer pictures

and my daughter just told me that could be her replacement for the 3 inch aro that my snakeheads ate, man talk about tough sell for a daughter eh :P
