So My Jags have eggs...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
nice looking pair i love when there is an extreme size difference between the sexes, also makes it easier to deal with aggression unless the aggressor is smaller...

Congratulations....i have some related thoughts...you should know soon if the spawning was a success... the eggs should hatch in 3-4 days...after hatching the parents may move them to another area...you will have undeveloped wigglers that start off looking like embryos and change into fry over the next 5-6 days..so by 3/20/13 you should have free swimming fry.....you have a new couple with no other fish with them so watch to make sure the pair bond is strong...any sign of aggression toward each other use a divider to separate them..watch your fry numbers if you see them decrease then i would move them to another tank...

You should leave the fry for 2 weeks with the parents , after that parental care will diminish . Feed the fry Hikary plankton or very fine flake food . After 6 weeks they should be 1 inch long

nice, its great seeing the parental care of the young.maybe you can sell some to a LFS,feed them 3-5 times a day if you can.keep up the WC schedule.best to get them to an inch or more for sale-size
