yeah i knew the tiger barbs are little fin nippers, her betta is too pretty for that and she has had him for a long time. that was her first test, she kept the betta alive for 6 months so she got to graduate to a tank with more fish, if she can keep up on the tank for the next year then she will get a bigger one next birthday

thats wot my dad did with me, i had a weather loach in a bowl, then 10g then a 22g an then i was too old to b told wot to do haha! best of luck anyway

well I don't know if this has been stated but when I was like 4-6 me and my brother loved gouramis... I think they are real neat and would be a good addition to your tank

beat ya too it! i agree tho brilliant starter fishes!

also stay away from the blue's there narky little ****'s

A 15g is definately better than a 10g. IMO, 10g are too small for anything but raising fry. I had a community tank at work that was a 10g, but thought it was too small. I had 12 neon tetras, 4 glass cats, 1 female betta, and 2 otocinculs. The tank did great until I started school because no one took care of the tank while I was away :(

ok guys, so she now has a 15 gal tall tank, well planted with 5 tiger barbs, 3 black neon tetras and a harlequin rasbora. i'm gonna get her a small shoal of corys and a couple dwarf neon rainbows, and call it done. she loves it, it is really busy. i had to get more tiger barbs, the 3 she had were beating the crap out of each other, they have settled down since i put in more. i would have fixed the 29 tall for her but i do not have the means to cut the glass. thanks for all the advice guys, she is a really happy girl now, she stares at her new tank for hours on end, i don't think i could have gotten her anything else that would have made her happier

Nice selection. The 15 g is a better choice too. Best luck to your daughter.

Best regards.

Daniel.
